Evidence, adoption & methodology

Bitcoin Research

Company treasuries, sovereign holdings and attributed on-chain evidence, with each source type clearly labelled.

The principle

Know what kind of thing you are reading.

Research on this platform mixes three different classes of information, and the difference between them is the research. BitcoinTrench labels every figure with which class it belongs to and never quietly promotes one into another.

derived

observed

Read directly from the blockchain or from a live market. A balance at a published address, a confirmed block, a traded price. Verifiable by anyone with a node.

reported

Stated by the party holding it, or recorded in a filing or court document. True as of the disclosure, and no fresher than the document itself.

estimated

Inferred by researchers from patterns in on-chain data. Useful, contested, and never presented as a measurement — including where the estimate is widely cited.

Adoption

Who holds Bitcoin, and how we know.

Evidence

Attributed addresses and early Bitcoin.

Standing rule

What BitcoinTrench will not publish.

  • No entity attribution derived from clustering heuristics whose error rates are not published.
  • No proprietary on-chain indicator reproduced or approximated from a paid provider.
  • No estimate presented without the reasoning and the uncertainty attached to it.
  • No holding figure implied to be a live wallet balance when it comes from a filing.
  • No buy, sell or price-target signal. BitcoinTrench publishes data and research, not investment advice.
